{name}, Thank You for Being a Dues-Paying Member of UTRU, Your Support Is Vital to Our Success!
Because you have paid dues over the past year, you are eligible to vote in our upcoming board election taking place this Saturday.
Though we will go over the instructions during the convention, I wanted to reach out and give you an opportunity to ask any questions ahead of time.
We will be using a "reverse" ranked-choice voting system to elect our UTRU 2023-2025 board members.
Normally, ranked choice eliminates the lowest-ranked candidate from the pool of candidates and rolls the remaining ballots up until a single candidate receives the majority of votes. In this election, however, we have to fill four positions and have five candidates - so we will be flipping the process and use ranked-choice voting to determine the lowest-ranking candidate.
For a brief explanation of ranked-choice voting, you can click here.
The five candidates will be given two minutes to speak, starting at approximately 10:20. After the final speaker has finished, we will ask if there are any individuals who wish to nominate themselves from the floor. Once that process is over, the balloting is expected to begin at approximately 10:30.
You will receive a ballot in the form of a Google Form to this same email address, however, it will come from my personal UTRU email account: curtis.haring@utru.org. If you do not see it within a few minutes of ballots being sent, please let me know.
To ensure that your ballot is secure, you will be asked to enter this same email address on the ballot. If the email address does not match, your ballot will not be counted.
As I start the balloting process, I will declare when voting will close. At a minimum, voting will be open for 15 minutes.

Again, I hope to see you THIS SATURDAY at 10 AM for our annual convention!
